Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Our CCBT service offers a supported self-help treatment option for those living with mild to moderate depression.  The computer program we use is called Beating the Blues.

The Beating the Blues Programme

Beating the Blues is a clinically proven, drug-free treatment which integrates best practice in psychological therapies with advanced multimedia software.

Beating the Blues makes use of interactive modules, animations, voice-overs and filmed case studies of fictional patients who model the symptoms of anxiety and depression and help demonstrate the treatment by cognitive behavioural therapy.

  • Designed for computer novices
  • Consisting of 8-sessions
  • Easy-to-use self-help computer programme
  • Based on Cognitive Behavioural  Therapy (CBT)
  • Follows the same basic principles as face-to-face CBT treatment
  • Involves work on thoughts (cognitions) and behaviour
  • Focuses on what is happening in the here and now, rather than on what has happened in the past
  • Helps to develop more helpful ways of being, particularly in    relation to unrealistic or unhelpful thinking patterns
