BME Health & Wellbeing

The BME Health and Wellbeing Team work with groups and individual with an experience of mental health in order to reduce and eliminate ethnic and gender based inequalities in mental health service experience and outcome. It includes actively helping to facilitate more effective and beneficial recovery pathways for individuals, and moving them through on their journey to wellbeing.

Our work includes:

  • Community development work with South Asian, Eastern European, African and Caribbean communities.
  • Working with offenders with an experience of mental health, through the ROCAF Project
  • Supporting people with an experience of dementia, through the Shifa Dementia Family Link Project
  • Working with young people experiencing mental health issues, through the Listen Up Project
  • Providing bespoke training in equality and diversity
  • Tackling stigma and discrimination through mental health awareness training, information and outreach work.
