Access information on mental health services in Rochdale.
Get Set to Go (GStG) aims to improve the lives of people with mental health issues through access to physical activity and sport in their local communities.
Rochdale and District Mind are one of eight local Mind centres in England, to be selected to run the programme until October 2017. Supported by Sport England and the National Lottery, the programme aims to remove the barriers that people living with mental health issues can face when wanting to take up physical activity.
It aims to increase and sustain their participation in activities as part of a healthy lifestyle.
The programme works in partnership with local sport providers (including Link4Life) www.link4life.org to deliver a wide range of sessions to suit your particular interest, At present, we have on offer swimming, walking, zumba, pilates, tai-chi, boxing, badminton, climbing and gym sessions but are hoping to set up more activities as the project grows. Please click on the activity you are interested in for more information.
We have a team of Peer Sport Navigators - these are volunteers who will provide support to people experiencing mental health issues, to help them access sporting activities in the community, either on a 1-2-1 basis or part of a group. Expenses will be paid for travelling alongside free entry to the specific activitiy you are involved in.
