Who can create a WRAP?
Anyone can create a WRAP no matter what their background or experiences, as they are about maintaining wellbeing. However, someone experiencing, or who has experienced mental distress, may find this to be a useful tool, which helps them understand;

  • what keeps them well
  • what their triggers are
  • what they would like to happen in a crisis.

It can give someone a sense of control and empowerment.

How can someone access support to create his or her own WRAP?
Some mental health services already provide support for people to put       together a WRAP. However, Rochdale Mind offers training and support for people who are interested in putting together a workable WRAP from a      service user perspective. Support can be provided by:

  • One to one peer support from someone who has written a WRAP
  • Structured sessions delivered by experienced service users.

We also provide information and training to carers and professionals who would like to support a person to create their own WRAP.

Do you need any particular skills to create a WRAP?
No, because we aim to provide a safe and supportive space where people can experiment, using whatever design, method and medium they choose.

  • Audio-speaking and using a dictaphone
  • Visual-through art media and photography
  • Written or typed

Are you still not sure?
If you wish to discuss any of this information further or would like to be involved in sharing experiences about  WRAP or other self-management tools please contact our Open Mind Team on (01706) 752 352.
