Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
We are offering FREE two day Suicide Intervention Skills Training programme to people who live or work in the Borough of Rochdale.
Every year more people die by completing suicide than from all of the armed conflicts around the world and, in many places, than those dying in traffic accidents. As many as 6% of the population worldwide have serious thoughts of suicide each year.
The Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day intensive, interactive and practice dominated course designed to teach suicide first aid to help a person with thoughts of suicide stay safe and seek further help as needed.
The workshop will focus on preparing you with the ability to provide suicide first aid assistance to persons already at risk -persons who have thoughts of suicide. You will learn specific, life assisting skills to help prevent persons with thoughts of suicide from acting upon those thoughts. Please note that the training will include role plays, which all course participants are expected to participate in.
Our next training days are:
Tuesday 11th February and Wednesday 12th February 2020
9.15am –4.00pm each day
You MUST attend for the full two days to receive a certificate.
