Community Business Cafes

Our Community Business Cafes are operated as normal commercial cafes which serve the general public. They are managed by a Rochdale and District Mind member of staff assisted by volunteers and peer supporters who have experience of mental health issues.

We will welcome you with a friendly smile along with information on Rochdale and District Mind services. This project provides support and training and decreases social isolation. Everybody who joins the project will be given training in areas such as customer service and food hygiene.

The cafés create a viable alternative work experience and training options, which reflect the needs of people with mental health issues in the Borough of Rochdale.  The café projects are a safe and supportive environment for those who attend, and their views are listened to and respected.

We aim to promote a positive image of mental health by keeping high standards and offering a good quality service.

If you are interested in getting involved please speak to a member of our staff or complete a referral form which can be found here

One of our service users who was accessing our cafes wrote a poem for us:

If you want a good snack on a café,
That’s as clean as a whistle, for sure.
Comple@t is awaiting your custom:
There’s sandwiches, tea and much more.
The staff make the customers welcome;
They serve you with smiles and with care.
So come and enjoy this experience-
The answer to everyone’s prayer.
