We are committed to improving the mental health & emotional wellbeing of individuals from ethnic minority communities.
We provide culturally sensitive services that are better able to meet the needs of diverse local communities in Rochdale. To do this, we are improving access to services for marginalised communities and tackling the stigma, cultural taboos and discrimination that are still associated with mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Our work includes:
- Wellbeing Support Services
- Supporting South Asian, Eastern European, African & Caribbean communities, Refugees & Asylum Seekers living in the Borough of Rochdale
- Outreach sessions in the community
- Weekly wellbeing support groups
- One to one intervention
Support on offer is culturally appropriate and, where required, spoken in the community languages. Intervention is face to face and telephone both one to one and in groups with the aim to empower and enhance the ability to live well.
Our staff currently speak the following languages: Urdu, Punjabi, and Bengali.
How to access our Ethnically Diverse Communities services
If you are already signed up and using our services, you can ask your main point of contact (for example, your group lead or project coordinator) for a referral to the Ethnically Diverse Communities project.
If you are new to our services, you can self refer online, speak to a member of staff at
The Mind Wellbeing Centre OR contact us on 01706 752 338
You will then receive a one-to-one welcome session. This is a relaxed, informal session to explain who we are, what we do, and which of our groups or activities could suit you.
