Stronger Minds, Stronger Community – World Mental Health Day 2025

On Friday 10th October, we marked World Mental Health Day 2025 with a special community event at Riverside One in the heart of Rochdale.
Under this year’s theme, “Stronger Minds, Stronger Community”, we brought people together to celebrate mental wellbeing, raise awareness, and build connections. The day was all about learning more about the mental health support available locally, getting involved in wellbeing activities, and meeting some of the incredible organisations working to support our community.
Here’s what our inspiring and uplifting day felt like…
Visitors were greeted by one of our team and given a Calm Kit (very kindly sponsored by local organisation Lee Spring). We gave out nearly 100 Calm Kits in total!
We were also giving away our ‘Be Kind To Your Mind’ tote bags as a thank you for those who signed up to our mailing list.

Visitors had the chance to explore our stands, learn more about each of our services, and meet the passionate team of staff and volunteers behind the work we do.
Through friendly conversations, and with the help of our leaflets and other resources, we hope everyone walked away not only with useful tools to support their mental health and emotional wellbeing – but also a real sense of the care and commitment that drives our work.

Visitors also had the chance to connect with a range of brilliant local organisations, all offering different types of support across the Borough of Rochdale. From mental health and wellbeing to community services and emergency support, it was a great opportunity to discover what’s available locally.
A huge thank you to all our amazing partners who joined us on the day and helped showcase the wide network of care in our community:
Petrus, Carers Hub, Deeplish Community Centre, YourTrust, KYP, Home Instead, Samaritans, Turning Point, Alzheimer’s Society, CAMHS, and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
It was inspiring to see so much shared passion for supporting others, and we hope everyone enjoyed the chance to connect, learn, and celebrate World Mental Health Day with us at Rochdale and District Mind.

There were plenty of eye-catching moments on the day – including a large screen showcasing videos and images about our work and the services offered by our partner organisations. A flag outside helped guide visitors to the event, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. We were also delighted to receive a visit from the Mayor of Rochdale, Janet Emsley, which made the day even more special.

We also set up a free wellbeing activity where visitors could take a quiet moment for themselves and create a beaded keyring to take home – a small, mindful keepsake from the day.

We’re proud to share that we gave out over 40 of our ‘What’s On’ timetables, 28 referral forms, and more than 80 folded leaflets on the day – helping more people find out about the support available through Rochdale and District Mind.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to attend – and an extra special thank you to our amazing staff and volunteers, whose energy, kindness and hard work helped make the day run so smoothly.
We’d also like to extend another big thank you to all the fantastic local organisations who joined us and helped showcase the incredible support available across our community. Your presence made the day even more meaningful, and we’re so grateful to work alongside you.
