Local Young People Give Our Listening Lounge a Calming Makeover

Rochdale & District Mind would like to say a huge thank you to 11 incredible young people who have transformed the charity’s Listening Lounge; a space used by people accessing mental health support when in distress or crisis.

The group took on the renovation as part of Groundwork Greater Manchester’s Team Programme, a 12-week personal development course for 16–25-year-olds, delivered in partnership with The King’s Trust. The project gave them the opportunity to build real-world skills, confidence, and make a lasting impact in their community.

It had been over five years since the Listening Lounge was last decorated. Now, thanks to the group’s vision and hard work, the space has been refreshed in line with Mind’s calming visual branding – offering a peaceful, welcoming environment for people who rely on this service for vital wellbeing support each week.

We are so grateful to the Groundwork and King’s Trust team. These young people have taken a space at the heart of our Wellbeing Centre and made it feel brand new. Their care and creativity mean a lot to us, and to the people who use this room.
