Mental Health Awareness Week 2023

This week (15th until 21st May 2023) is #MHAW Mental Health Awareness Week! This year the theme is #ToHelpMyAnxiety

To raise awareness we have created a whole week jam-packed with free activities and groups to help raise awareness of mental health and how we can support those who are struggling with their mental health and emotional wellbeing. Here is what we have going on each day:

Stretch and tone to music Exercise for all abilities. Seated or standing exercise movements to music. Get moving and have the opportunity to speak to our sports coordinator about healthy living, diet and fitness.

Tapping activity and meditation Practice tapping acupuncture techniques to reduce stress and anxiety followed by a guided meditation session.

Social Café The first ever Middleton Social Café! Meet new people, socialise and enjoy free refreshments. Refer to services and speak to our staff for support for your mental health.

1pm until 3pm
Talk: Healthy Lifestyles Our sports coordinator will do a small presentational talk on healthy lifestyles including topics such as diet, sleep, exercise and keeping fit. Opportunities to ask questions and get information.

Social Café A casual, no pressure environment to meet new people and have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Free refreshments provided and each session ends with a fun, peer led quiz!

BAME Women’s Social Café Social group for women specifically from ethnic minority backgrounds to meet new people and look after their mental health. Delivered in Urdu and Punjabi

Mini Golf Trip *BOOKINGS ONLY* Trip to Puttstars in Rochdale for a round of mini golf! Free to attend but only by pre-booking. 20 tickets kindly donated by Puttstars Rochdale – with the rest being purchased (with discount) from donations from the local community

Walk to Growth Meet at The Wellbeing Centre and walk as a group over to The Growth Project to take part in the activity,

Growing at the Growth Visit our partnership allotment The Growth Project, find out why gardening is good for your mental health, enjoy the fresh air and take a tour of the different sections and see all the different things we grow!

Support Group 4 Wellbeing  Safer support session aimed at providing advice, guidance and support to those struggling with their mental health. Lots of activities from crosswords to colouring, or just sit and have a chat and a brew!

Healthy Lifestyles Smoothies  Head over to our community café within the Nye Bevan House building to take part in a free smoothie making session with our café manager! Enjoy taste testing and discovering new recipes to try out at home

BAME Women’s Support Group Support session aimed at women from ethnic minority backgrounds. Group is delivered in Urdu and Punjabi languages and follows peer led discussions and conversations about life, support and empowerment.

Living Well Event We will have a stall at Living Well’s Mental Health Event at Number One Riverside alongside other organisations to promote positive mental health and signposting opportunities

Line Drawing Art Session Free art session on line drawing with local artist and wellbeing coordinator Dani Burke. Open to all abilities and skill levels with the aim to have fun and meet new people

Circus Skills Free to attend, fun session learning circus skills with our new lived experience manager.
